Brown Bag Lunch Conversations: Cultivating Kindness
Wednesdays in October, you are invited into conversation through "Cultivating Kindness," a 5-week study created to complement the "Do Unto Others" worship series. Join the conversation wherever you are during the lunch hour as we explore the scriptural call to love and bless others, and wrestle with what it looks like in our day-to-day lives, especially in the midst of diverse and often polarized communities during a divisive election season. We will explore how to engage with people both inside the congregation and outside our church on a journey toward practicing the Bible's great love ethic, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." (Matthew 7:12)

Study on the Gospel of John
Join us for a deep dive into the gospel and John on Tuesday evenings with Kim Carroll facilitating a 6-week study by New Testament Jewish scholar Amy-Jill Levine. Come explore the unique language of the Gospel of John, who writes of being born anew, of living water, of wind and spirit, of the "I am" - that enhances how we understand the divine, how we experience the world, and how we participate in the mystery of faith. With her characteristic wit and charm, Amy-Jill unpacks the original context of the stories in these gospels, while examining how the text is read today. The study begins on Tuesday, October 29.

The Renewing of the Mind Project:
Going to God for Help with Your Habits, Goals, and Emotions
Do you ever feel like you'll never change? Maybe you've been struggling with the same habit for years. Or you're stuck in the grip of a negative emotion. Or you've been trying to start a habit, but it's not happening.
You feel like you'll never change. But here's the truth: God is powerful and He wants to help you. This book is all about going to God for help with transformation. You'll learn how to:

Break that habit you thought you'd never break
Gain victory over negative emotions like anger, worry, and insecurity
Start life-enriching habits, such as having a daily quiet time
Follow through on that goal you've always wanted to pursue
Paul tells us in Romans 12:2 that we're transformed by the renewing of the mind. In The Renewing of the Mind Project you'll choose a project - something you'd really like to change - and apply Romans 12:2 to that project. And as you work with God on your project, you'll not only gain victory in that area of your life, you'll also grow closer to God and more dependent on Him. Ready to start? Join us!

Understanding the Greatest Apostle
More information on the current study coming soon

There are 27 books in the New Testament out of which at least 13 are attributed to the Apostle Paul meaning that he is believed to be the author of half the New Testament. Many consider him to be the first Christian theologian. His impact on the development of the Christian church is beyond dispute.
However, Paul’s writings have always produced controversy and even Paul himself would be shocked if he knew that his letters had been canonized and placed into Holy Scripture. When scholars and laypeople debate differences in interpretations they will quote Paul more often than the Gospels.
Beginning May 30th on Thursdays from 10 - 11:30 on Zoom we will take a deep dive into the second most important person in Christian church. We will take a look at how to understand what Paul was saying and why it is so often misunderstood. Join us for this insightful class.
