At Our Church

Weekend Food for Children

During the school year, many students at Menchaca Elementary struggle with food insecurity. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. What happens when they go home over the weekend? Extensive research shows that children who are hungry do not excel in school. The Weekend Food for Children Ministry supports these families by providing food when they are not at school. Click here to learn how you can support this ministry.

Regular Participation

Habitat for Humanity

Manchaca UMC participates in the Habitat for Humanity "Methodist Build," which occurs in Austin every 2 years. We join with other churches to sponsor and help build a home for a person on need. Our last project was in April 2023 — read more about it! We'll prepare for another build in 2025. You can read more about Austin Habitat for Humanity here.

Any Time

Community Basketball Court

We welcome the community to use the basketball court at our covered Pavilion located at the back of our west parking lot. We often hear that it is our most used facility. Click here for more information and perhaps some inspiration.

South Austin Assistance Ministry  (S.A.A.M.)

Manchaca UMC is a proud partner and support of S.A.A.M., a community coalition of several churches in South Austin seeking to serve people in need of basic food, clothing, housing, and utility assistance.

Any person or family that solicits help is referred to the Post Road Community Center of Travis County. This department makes an assessment of the needs of the person or family. If this help is not enough, the department turns to S.A.A.M for additional funds.
