Hi friends,
On Sunday, we started a new church year with Advent as we celebrate a season of preparation and anticipation of God With Us. Yes, that’s right. Advent is the beginning of our church liturgical year. Just as the Lord’s Day is considered the first day of the week (and not the last), so it is with Advent. It is the first season of our Christian year. God With Us!
We also want to highlight another season we soon enter together at Manchaca United Methodist Church. It is our 150th year of charter as a Methodist congregation. And a team has been working to plan some special events and celebrations. As a part of the celebration we will have former preachers returning to share a good word with us. We begin that schedule on January 21 with Rev. Peter Castles preaching at both worship services. Many of you will also recognize the names of other preachers who have agreed to return for a Sunday as we a celebrate 150 years. So far, they include Rev. Teresa Welborn, Rev. Dan Harrington, Rev. Tracey Beadle, and Rev. David McNitzky. These colleagues were more than happy to accept our invitation to be with us in 2024 for this special season.
Stay tuned for more information regarding the 150 year celebration. Coming soon!
We do have t-shirts available to order from now through January 2. Click here to learn more.
