Every year our church participates in the Alex's Lemonade Stand fundraiser! Alex's Lemonade Stand is a fundraiser started by a young girl named Alex, who was diagnosed with cancer just before her first birthday. At 4 years old, she asked her parents to make a lemonade stand to raise money to help doctors kind a cure. She and her brother raised over $2,000 on that first day. Before her death at 8 years old, word spread of her lemonade stand and she raised over $1 million. Now people set up lemonade stands in Alex's honor, and the foundation has raised $2.5 million, funding 1,000 cutting-edge research projects at nearly 150 institutions. If you would like to learn more about Alex's Lemonade Stand, you can check out their website here.
Since 2013, our church has raised $2,520, funding more than 50 hours of research! Our goal this year was to raise at least $400. Dozens of cookies and cups of lemonade later, this year we managed to raise $665! We are so grateful for everyone's continued support in this cause, including those who made cookies, worked at the tables, and donated money.
