When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had left the Sadducees speechless, they met together. One of them, a legal expert, tested him. “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” Matthew 22:34-40
On Sunday October 27, our church joined thousands of churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples across the country to celebrate children as a sacred gift of God. Children's Sabbath is a Sunday meant to remind and encourage people to care, protect, and advocate for all children. To celebrate this Sunday, we had children from our church lead the worship services, as well as a special message from our Director of Christian Education, Kim Carroll.
This service was also the final Sunday in our Do Unto Others sermon series, and the theme was love. In her message, Kim reminded us that it is important to love one another as Jesus loved, especially as our children are watching and learning.
