Kairos Prison Ministry

October 19-22

Luther Unit #11

Whoever says, “I am in the light,” while hating a brother or sister, is still in darkness. Whoever loves a brother or sister lives in the light, and in such a person there is no cause for stumbling. But whoever hates another believer is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know the way to go, because the darkness has brought on blindness." 1 John 2: 9-11

Prison is a dark place, however, in the midst of that darkness one can find a glimmer of light. Forty-two incarcerated men at the O.L. Luther Unit in Navasota attended a Kairos Prison Ministry weekend recently, and many, if not All, of the men experienced the Light of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. Many of the men talked about living in darkness — abuse, neglect, and growing up in violence and homes without love. Can you pause for a moment and try to imagine yourself in an environment like that?

God does not create “deadbeats” or criminals.

Our God never gives up pursuing and offering us opportunities to be in relationship. God uses each of us to bring about God’s kingdom on earth when we are willing to serve and live into the light of Jesus.

Thank You Manchaca UMC for supporting the Kairos Prison Ministry with your prayers and financial support! Thank You Craft Group for your contributions over many years! We are a community with big hearts and open arms to help those in need and serve an amazing God!
