This year, for the season of Lent, we are encouraging people to be intentional about creating a life of spiritual depth by being Purveyors of Awe. We’ll be expanding on this idea through sermons and devotionals. We are also inviting people to participate in our “Moments of Awe” display.
According to Marcia McFee:
Awe is a profound emotional response that can significantly impact our wellbeing and perception of the world. Awe often arises from experiences that transcend our usual understanding, such as viewing vast landscapes, listening to powerful music, encountering extraordinary acts of kindness, or feeling heightened devotion and a Divine Presence connecting us all.
To participate, all you have to do is bring a photo of a time you experienced awe and put it up on our “Moments of Awe” display that will be available at the back of the worship areas.
Make sure your photo is roughly 4x6 inches (the exact size doesn’t matter, but we want to have room for everyone)
Please use a photo that you have taken. We are wanting to highlight moments that mean a lot to our congregation, which cannot be properly conveyed through AI or stock photos.
The photo does not need to be professionally printed. Using normal printer paper is fine. If you are struggling to print your photo for whatever reason, you can also email it to Kendall@ManchacaUMC.org, or post it on the Manchaca UMC Facebook Group (please indicate that your photo is for the Moments of Awe display so that we know to print it).
This display will be out throughout Lent beginning on Ash Wednesday, so please feel free to bring your photo whenever you are able.
