Did you know that our church has both a bell and steeple? No, the bell is not located in the steeple, but in the small tower just west of the Family Life Center’s entrance. The old bell is from the first little wooden church and can still be rung on special occasions.
In February, 1987, when the new sanctuary was built, our church ordered a new steeple from B. M. Rogers Company in Houston. The forty-five foot structure arrived by train in July and was raised by crane to the top of the sanctuary under construction. At a total of 90 feet above the ground, this glowing white monument to the Lord was the tallest point in Manchaca and the second tallest steeple in the Austin area.
